At Great Plains Church we value participation over membership, but membership is becoming part of the family
We believe church membership has its place and is a benefit to the body of Christ. Rather than just attending regularly, membership is belonging to a spiritual family. Church membership is a commitment to a relationship with one another regardless of our shortcomings. It is a 'we love you and support you' and 'you love us and support us' mindset even when we need to lovingly correct one another as we follow Christ.
What is required to be a member?
1.) You must be born again through faith in Jesus Christ.
Our heart is to see everyone experience new life in Christ. If you like GPC and want to become a member, but have not found forgiveness of sin through Jesus dying on the cross and being raised to life, today can be a new start for you by placing your faith in Him. |
2.) You must agree with our Statement of Faith as well as agree to follow the Articles of Incorporation and the Bylaws.
While some individuals may have grew up in a church similar to GPC, others may be new to church or come from a church structure very different than ours. We want everyone to understand how we operate and make leadership decisions to prevent confusion or frustrations. |
3.) You need to demonstrate an active commitment to the church.
This is done in several simple ways that are laid out in our Bylaws. Membership is a commitment to move from a frequent guest to a part of the congregation. |
Are you ready to become a member?
As you can see, while we value participation over membership, membership allows us to know that the people we release to participate and serve in the various ministries of the church understand the direction and mission of the church. It adds a degree of belonging, not just participation, in the mission that Christ has for us at Great Plains Church.
We offer a HeartBeat Membership Class a few times during the year. However, if you are ready to become a member now, please read over the Statement of Faith and Bylaws Excerpt Regarding Membership. Then, please contact us to schedule a time with a pastor to have any of your questions answered. Finally, please print and sign the membership application.
